Barcelona

One of the best "impress your date" places in Columbus.   We love this place and go as often as possible.  The owner Scott and his partner Scott are delightful and truly care that your experience is a good one.  Leave room for the chocolate pudding cake-- amazing.

Third and Hollywood

in Grandview

I took my best friend here for her 60th birthday -- top drawer all the way starting with valet parking.  We got the table by the huge fire place which kept us warm all night.  Bewear the drinks in pretty glasses -- too strong for us old gals, but the tall Irish man with me found them just right!

I had the trout special--so delicate and yummy.

We shared the lemon bar for dessert, a very good choice.

And you canaries out there, they will tell you what is in every dish, so not to worry about accidently eating something you are allergic to.

L'Antibe

It is Quiet, you can hear your conversation.

The food consistantly wonderful.  The chef mixes it up so you can have something entirely different each time.

Sooo perfect!!

Oh My God – Mozaik

The Opening on June 19th 2009 was totally a-mazing.  Seriously, I was blown away.  The place is so unassuming from the outside, but inside — very chic.  There is a waterfall over the bar with a video of killer surf.  Our waitresses, yes we had two, looked like the Robert Palmer back-up singers, with smiles.  The DJ spun 2 platters and kept it varied.  The seats are modern, all leather, and really comfortable.  The women’s room has a mirror in the sink area that you can look through and check out your guy at the bar without him seeing you.  Oh, just heard from my guys, same goes for the guy’s room.

So, that’s the main eye candy; here come the drinks – we had 9 among the 4 of us, and I had at least a swig of every kind – all mucho tasty: the Dragonfruit Mojito topped the list if you like sweet; you could taste the tequila in the Margarita – it was smooth and delicious; we fought over the 3 Melon Martini, it was less sweet and very refreshing; the ending drink was I Dream of Tini, (Chambord, black cherry and raspberry) – just go straight to heaven.

Before we got too liquored up another very professional waiter delivered the first Tapas, it was humus on Pita bread -- so light and moist and every flavor stayed delicately on your tongue.  Tapas 2 was perfectly cooked shrimp that burst between your teeth with each bite.  And, Tapas 3 was meatballs with Truffle infused Fontana sauce. Next was the Irishman’s delight – perfectly cut (nice and plump), perfectly fried, French fried potatoes.  The best was last, not just crab cakes, but real, unadulterated chunks of succulent crab with delicate herbs and just a sprinkle of bread crumbs, light delicate and so delicious.

The chef came out and to my surprise it was none other than Grandview’s own mighty deer hunter, and graduate of the CIA (Culinary Institute of America, NYC), David Ostrander.  It all made sense: this is food inspired by the French tradition of his mother and grandmother, and benefits from the impeccable attention David devotes to his favorite thing, food.

I am thrilled to recommend this great place to all of you; we are going back on Wednesday, see you there!
